NETZSCH Science Cup inspires with visions for the “laboratory of the future”

Big stage for young research talents: At the festive closing event of the NETZSCH Science Cup 2025, pupils presented their innovative ideas for the laboratory of tomorrow - accompanied by teachers, school administrators and a broad audience from politics, business and education. Since October 2024, around 60 young people from Walter-Gropius-Gymnasium Selb, Luisenburg-Gymnasium Wunsiedel, Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium Marktredwitz and Fachoberschule Marktredwitz had been working on their concepts for the “laboratory of the future” with great commitment, creativity and a spirit of research.

The NETZSCH Science Cup offered participants a special opportunity to develop their own ideas for a modern laboratory. The projects ranged from physical models and creative visualizations to digital concepts. The aim of the competition was to get young people interested in science and technology interested in research, innovation and future topics even before they embark on an apprenticeship. The result was a long-term school project that impressively combined enthusiasm for technology, personal initiative and teamwork.

At the final event, the teams presented their concepts in 15-minute pitches, followed by a round of questions from the jury. The projects were evaluated according to criteria such as digitalization, costs, use of artificial intelligence, space requirements, practical relevance, innovative strength and feasibility. The result: impressive across the board.

All groups impressed with well thought-out, creative and future-oriented ideas. In an exciting neck-and-neck race, the team from Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium Marktredwitz ultimately secured the winner's trophy. “What the students have achieved over the past few months deserves the greatest respect,” was the unanimous verdict of the jury and project team. “They have not only demonstrated technical understanding, but above all team spirit, personal responsibility and the courage to rethink the future.”

With the NETZSCH Science Cup, the NETZSCH Group is sending a strong signal for the promotion of STEM skills in the region - and laying the foundation for long-term cooperation with schools and young talents.
